Hello, my name is Alicja Ziółkowska. I am 17 years old and I live in Łódź. My greatest passion has always been hair styling and hair care. I am a student at a hairdressing school, and I want to build my future career in this profession.

During my internship at a hair salon, I accidentally hit myself lightly with a hair dryer around my ribs. However, the pain was much stronger than expected for such a minor impact, and the area quickly became bruised. Concerned about these symptoms, I went to the hospital, where doctors performed diagnostic tests. During the examinations, they discovered three tumors, and I was referred for surgery to remove them. The procedure took place on April 1, 2026. Unfortunately, the histopathological results brought a very difficult diagnosis: a malignant tumor — Ewing sarcoma.

Since my diagnosis, I have been a patient at the Pediatric Oncology Department of the Central Clinical Hospital in Łódź, where I am undergoing intensive cancer treatment. I remember the first cycles of chemotherapy as extremely difficult. I did not have the strength to get out of bed, and I experienced severe nausea and vomiting. After about a month, my hair started falling out. The treatment also causes a weakened immune system, which means I have to limit my contact with other people.

Despite my illness, I try to stay positive and I believe that I will overcome this disease. I live only with my mother, who is by my side every day and supports me in my fight for health, despite the many challenges we face together. Besides hairdressing, I am interested in cycling, the automotive world, and animals. I love spending time with my dog Rocky, teaching him new tricks and playing together. I miss him very much during my hospital stays.
