The first day of September is a time that most pupils associate with the learning challenges of starting the next stage in their education, moving on to the next class or school, making new friends, and nurturing existing peer relationships. Unfortunately, not all younger and older students have this opportunity. Children diagnosed with cancer or haematology often have to remain in hospital beds, preventing direct contact with classmates or schoolmates.

For many oncologists, this challenging experience affects their well-being differently. Some are better able to cope with their new situation, while others have difficulty accepting the different reality they find themselves in because of their illness.

At this critical time, the ‘Krwinka’ Foundation remembers all the patients treated at the Department of Paediatrics, Oncology and Haematology at the M. Konopnicka Paediatric Centre of the U.M. CSK in Łódź. Thanks to the in-kind support received from the St. Majewski company - Kolorowy Świat Bambino; it was possible to create comprehensive school packages: backpacks, notebooks, utensils, stationery or paper products, which were very useful at the beginning of September. The Foundation’s employees also remembered the pre-schoolers, who received fairy tale backpacks outfitted with colourful paintings, books or toys.
