CHRISTMAS MEETINGS OF THE ONCO-WARRIORS WITH FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF RTS WIDZEW ŁÓDŹ

On 14 December 2022, football players of RTS Widzew Łódź club – Jordi Sanchez and Mateusz Żyro – arrived at the hospital at ul. Sporna in Łódź, to cheer up the faces of our brave onco-heroes. During the unusual visit, there took place talks and gifts were handed over to the children who, due to their health condition, will spend Christmas in hospital beds. The joint events were full of emotional moments of excitement which will remain in the memories of the event's participants for a long period of time.

On the other hand, on the next day, children with oncological and hematological diseases, along with their siblings and parents took part in the Christmas meeting, which took place at the Stadium in the Heart of Łódź. The event was attended by Mateusz Dróżdż and Michał Rydz, President and Vice-President of the RTS Widzew Łódź club, Dominika Śliwińska, the Director of the Foundation “Krwinka”, Janusz Niedźwiedź, coach and training staff, and also the whole football team.

–  We are very pleased that together with the “Krwinka” Foundation we are able to carry out such an innitiative. I sincerely thank the football players, the entire team and training staff for their commitment. May this Christmas be a family Christmas, full of smiles and joy. May this joy accompany you today – said Mateusz Dróżdż, President of the RTS Widzew Łódź club.

The children had the rare opportunity to perform professionally with the football players, accompanied by the flashlight and applause of the audience, making them feel like real football stars. Some of the players dressed up as fairytale characters and superhoroes, and the little participants received gifts from the Santa Clause.

–  We are delighted that once again we can bring a lot of joy to our wards and their loved ones in this magical pre-Christmas period. The moments spent together with the football players mean the time when the children do not think about their diseases and forget about the hardship of the long-lasting treatment. Strengthening the psycho-physical condition of the sick children, their sisters and brothers, and also the closest  caregivers is of great importance with regard to the healing process – emphasized Dominika Śliwińska, the Director of the “Krwinka” Foundation.

The Foundation for Children with Cancer Diseases “Krwinka” is a parent organisation, which has been supporting the whole families dealing with oncological diseases of their children, for 27 years. If you would like to support children in their fight against the disease, you can make a donation.  – details are available here: financial donations (krwinka.org).
